About Our Cattle

What Makes Flint Hills Homestead Beef Different?

It starts with the cattle, the land, and the way they are raised.

At Flint Hills Homestead Beef Company, our beef comes from Black Angus/Hereford and Black Angus/Santa Gertrudis cross cattle raised on our family-owned ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Our focus is simple: raise healthy cattle with quality genetics, proper nutrition, hands-on care, and respect for both the animals and the land.

What makes our beef different begins long before processing. Our cattle graze the native grasses of the Flint Hills year-round, including Bluestem, Brome, Fescue, and other native forage. They are grass-fed and grain-finished, with supplemental nutrition provided when needed to help them stay healthy and thrive throughout the seasons.

Our cattle have access to fresh water, quality feed, open pastures, and regular hands-on care. No hormones are used. We spend time among our cattle so we can closely monitor their health, their calves, and the condition of the herd. We believe quality beef starts with taking good care of the animals that provide it.

For our family, raising our own beef began with wanting greater control over the quality and origin of the food we put on our table. Today, we are proud to offer that same connection to other families. Buying directly from a local ranch allows you to know where your beef comes from, how the cattle were raised, and who cared for them along the way.

When you purchase from Flint Hills Homestead Beef Company, you are supporting a family-owned ranch, responsible animal care, local agriculture, and a commitment to providing quality beef from our farm to your household.

From our pastures in the Flint Hills of Kansas to your family’s table, we are proud to provide ranch-raised beef with quality, care, and integrity.

Raised in the Flint Hills

Our beef is shaped by the land, the cattle, and the way they are raised.

The Flint Hills of Kansas are known for their rolling native grasslands and rich cattle-ranching tradition. At Flint Hills Homestead Beef Company, our cattle graze these pastures year-round on Bluestem, Brome, Fescue, and other native grasses.

We raise Black Angus/Hereford and Black Angus/Santa Gertrudis cross cattle with a focus on quality, sound nutrition, and hands-on care. Our cattle are grass-fed and grain-finished, giving us the ability to combine pasture-based raising with the consistent quality and flavor we want for our family and yours.

For us, raising beef is about more than producing food. It is about knowing where our food comes from, caring for our animals responsibly, and making the most of the land we call home.

From the Flint Hills pastures to your freezer, our goal is simple: quality beef raised with care, integrity, and family values.
